Meet the Editor: Gillian Ellis of Coastal Bride
Today we’re introducing you to another of our local bloggers, Gillian Ellis of Coastal Bride. This gorgeous blog focuses on weddings and inspiration from the Southeast US coast. We sometimes hear from submitters who who worry that if their submission isn’t beachy or seaside-themed, it won’t be a good fit for Coastal Bride, but Gillian publishes lots of beautiful ‘landlocked’ inspiration too! As a talented photographer herself, she is an expert at curating exquisitely-shot features, making this one of the prettiest blogs out there. We asked Gillian a bit more about herself and her business.
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT WE SHOULD KNOW
I live in Charleston, South Carolina but spent my childhood traveling the world with my family.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO BLOGGING AND WHAT HAVE BEEN THE HIGHLIGHTS BEEN SO FAR?
I was a wedding photographer for eight years and loved writing my business blog. Creating a wedding blog grew from there. Some highlights have been traveling to Jamaica and Maine with my blog, as well as Coastal Bride being nominated for a Bloglovin H+M blog award.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE FOCUS OF COASTAL BRIDE?
Coastal Bride focuses on weddings captured on the Southeast coast of the US. We primarily feature weddings from Virginia down to Florida. In addition to real weddings and engagements we create inspiration for brides through styled shoots and DIY wedding projects.
“Photography is the most important element when I am choosing a wedding to feature.”
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A SUBMISSION?
As a photographer, photography is the most important element when I am choosing a wedding to feature. I strive to feature weddings and events with strong photography and consider this more important than a wedding full of details.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE RECENT SUBMISSION?
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT USING MATCHOLOGY?
I love that the vendor credits are streamlined within Matchology. When I receive a Matchology submission I know the publishing process will be much faster for the submitter and for me.

APART FROM MATCHOLOGY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BUSINESS TOOL?
Later for scheduling Instagram posts.
WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE WEDDING PROS TODAY?
It’s a simple tip but always have your email listed on your website! I come across so many websites that have a submission form but no email. Submission forms can fail, so it’s important you make it as easy as possible for clients to reach you.
